The diesel is dark, and the buyer will not take it.
- What you see
- The parcel reads above the colour limit on ASTM D1500, smells, or has gone opaque in storage. It may also be high in sulphur or low in cetane.
- Where it comes from
- Oxidation in long storage, contamination with heavier streams, or a pyrolysis origin. APCO identifies which before any dose is chosen.
- What APCO does
- A laboratory trial on one litre of the buyer's sample: decolorisation, then desulphurisation by chemical reaction and a cetane correction where the readings call for it, then filtration. The trial result decides the parcel-scale dose. APCO treats off-spec product to return it to its specification; it does not treat marked or dyed fuel.
